Hadramout Observatory: Typhoon "Kiar" has retreated to the third degree and its effects are far from Yemen

The Government's Hadramout Meteorological office announced Tuesday that the category of tropical cyclone "Kiar" has been reduced to a third degree from the fourth during the last 48 hours.

In a notice, the office predicted that the cyclone would gradually weaken within the next 48 hours and move north of the central Arabian Sea into a tropical depression early next week, at the entrance to the eastern Gulf of Aden.

The meteorological state confirmed that the tropical situation is still far from Yemen and under follow-up and monitoring.

Local authorities in the coastal provinces have directed stakeholders to increase their preparedness for Hurricane Kiar, which is approaching the Yemeni coast.

The Hadhramaut Coast Health Office issued a circular on Monday evening to increase the level of preparedness in health facilities to facilitate ambulance operations for citizens.

The Yemeni Coast Guard branch on the Hadhramaut coast also issued a circular to fishermen to remove their boats to safe places and not to sail as of Monday.

In Socotra, Governor Ramzi Mahrous addressed during a meeting of the province's executive office to form emergency committees and raise the level of maximum preparedness to cope with the aftermath of Hurricane Kiar.

The Minister of Health and fisheries yesterday warned fishermen about Cyclone Kiar and ordered to raise the readiness.
